Canada’s Scale AI project has recognized Montreal as a critical port city and transport hub. The investment project is providing the city with a 1.3 million dollar investment to upgrade the port with AI-powered decision support systems. The potential impact of these smart systems could be vast, and are expected to significantly increase efficiencies for road transport across the board.
The overall aim of the new system is to reduce expenses, eliminate bottlenecks, reduce empty runs and improve asset utilization. Along with our partner Ray-Mont logistics, Argus will be one of the first companies to benefit from this investment in robust AI technology.
"We’re thrilled to be a part of this program and to beta test the system in the coming months."
According to Daniel Dagenais, Vice-President, Operations, Montreal Port Authority, “This project is another critical milestone in our progress towards the ‘Smart Port’ vision we are implementing. It will benefit all stakeholders involved in the chain, reducing cargo delays and overall dwell time, while maximizing global throughput to our major logistics hub.”
Ultimately, the data generated by the system will enable Argus, our partners, and the port to make better decisions regarding staffing, timing, and other logistical decision-making. This means time saved; and as most in the industry are aware of, affects the bottom line.
“It’s not uncommon for trucks to be sitting at the port for hours, waiting to pick up intermodal containers. Simply put, bottlenecks can be costly. Factor in the industry-wide driver shortage, and these delays become significant problems,” explains Oren Gabbay, CEO of Argus Transport Canada. “We’re thrilled to be a part of this program and to beta test the system in the coming months. I believe predictive intelligence tools will greatly improve how we manage personnel and scheduling.”
It’s time the transport industry takes a great step forward, and integrating AI solutions will certainly increase productivity throughout the entire supply chain ecosystem. We at Argus couldn’t be prouder to be at the forefront of this Canadian investment in the transport industry.
